As I mentioned in my last post, I was thrilled to work with the guys over at Hero Complex Gallery on a new piece for their "Bleeding Metallics" show. After seeing all the work coming out of the opening, i'm grateful to share the space with such fantastic work and artists. And with that, I'd like to share the piece I created for the show, Inspired by one of my all time favorite films "Return to OZ".
When I was presented with the opportunity to create a piece centered around the world of metal, the first character that popped to mind was Tic-Toc from the 1985 Disney Pseudo-Sequel. I remember as a kid, watching the film and being so wrapped up in it's story, beautiful set pieces and intriguing character designs. This film is dark, considering it's from Disney and jumping off of the MGM classic, which is why I really wanted to tackle it. My work is often a balance of darkness and the light that comes from that and Tic-Toc was a character that had such a strong warmth as a character in such a dire version of OZ. Plus, the character design for him was just way too much fun not to tackle. So hope you enjoy and go buy one and support!
