“All Houses Are Haunted. All Persons Are Haunted. Throngs of Spirits Follow Us Everywhere. We Are Never Alone.”
— Barney Sarecky

Growing up as a fan of the Horror Genre in Films, I was always fascinated by the primal emotions it brought up to watch these heroines/heroes try to defy such gruesome odds. The other aspect that always struck me as well, was how these horrors seemed to be present in such drastically different settings. Whether it was a haunted house, a once congested city, a camp site or even your dreams- the characters were never safe from these often iconic terrors.

This lead me to come up with a new design project that examined this notion of Horror being present no matter where we might be or live.

#UnitedStatesOfHorror is an ongoing design project that takes all 50 States of the United States of America and mashes them up with the iconic villains that reside or terrorize those locations. I had to dig deep to create an accurate list and even I was surprised by some of the results.

In addition to the ongoing project, I recently brought 4 of these states to life as part of the "Postcard Correspondence" show over at Gallery 1988. Each pack includes 4 horrific postcards that represent the overall idea of #UnitedStatesOfHorror as well as has fun with self aware, "postcard-esque" messaging to accompany your own handwritten notes to recipients.
